Flock decorative coating: application, description and photo

Flock (translated from German "flock" - snowflakes, flakes), or as it is also called in the common people, "chips" - an unusual version of the decorative coating for the interior decoration of the room. The composition of the material includes colored particles based on acrylic paint, in shape that really resemble flakes or chips.

The decorative flock coating includes several components:

• delayed drying acrylic base;
• traditional flock, which is evenly applied to a wet base;
• Satin or acrylic-matt varnish, necessary to protect the surface and give the finish look.

With a thick consistency, flock can be applied to any surface: walls, ceilings, doors, columns, window sills, cornices, etc. The "flakes" themselves come in various shapes and sizes. Most often these are round particles, but there are other multifaceted options. As for color, the choice is almost limitless. Flock is able to imitate velor, suede, leather. The material conveys all the properties: strength, softness and brightness.

• resistance to household chemicals: you can not worry about color changes;
• hides minor cracks and bumps in the walls;
• low degree of abrasion (35 times less than that of felt);

Flock coating technology

1. To begin with, you should prepare the walls: remove the old finish, dirt and dust;
2. Then we level the surface with putty and strengthen with a primer. The wall should be dry, uniform, clean without any stains.
3. Apply an adhesive layer. To do this, we need a wool roller with a medium-length pile. The first adhesive layer dries very quickly, so experts recommend working at temperatures below room temperature. To establish the boundaries of the finish, you can use masking tape.
4. After applying the glue, without losing a minute, the flock is applied by spraying it with a flock gun or a special compressor. About any improvised means (vacuum cleaners, fans, etc.) is out of the question. It is best to work with a partner: one master applies glue, the other is spraying.
5. After the base layer has dried, remove excess flock from the surface with a brush. In the case of metallized flock, a rubber roller is used.
6. When the surface is completely dry, and this is not less than 12 hours, you can start applying varnish. Usually varnished in one coat with a roller.
